GENERAL
INFORMATION REGARDING THE
PSYCHOLOGICAL EVALUATION
Intelligence
Tests Administered:
Dr. Todd evaluates
children, ages six through sixteen, on the
Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children-IV.
For children ages four through six, the Wechsler
Preschool and Primary Intelligence Scale-III is
used. For adults, the
Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Adults is given,
beginning at the age of sixteen.
Testing Criteria For Programs For The
Gifted:
Psychological testing
on an individually administered, standardized
intelligence test is a requirement of all
programs for the gifted. The child usually must
achieve an intelligence quotient score at the 98
percentile or above on this test to
statistically fall in the gifted range. However,
placement in a gifted program is usually based
on multi-faceted criteria set by the school or
the school system and may differ, especially for
children for whom English is a second language
and for minority or handicapped children.
In Palm Beach County
the school system requires a qualifying score
of 90 percentile or above on an individualized
educational achievement test in either Reading
or Mathematics.
